Climate Change Essay

Climate Change Essay Climate change in the world can be caused by various activities. When climate change occurs; temperatures can increase a dramatically. When temperature rises, many different changes can occur on Earth. For example, it can result in more floods, droughts, or intense rain, as well as more frequent and severe heat waves. Oceans and glaciers have also experienced some changes: oceans are warming and becoming more acidic, glaciers are melting, and sea levels are rising. As these changes frequently occur in future decades, they will likely present challenges to our society and environment. During the past century, human activities have released large amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Most of the gases come from burning fossil fuels to produce energy. Greenhouse gases are like a blanket around the Earth, trapping energy in the atmosphere and causing it to warm. This is called the greenhouse effect and it is natural and necessary to support life on earth. However, while greenhouse gases buildup, the climate changes and result in dangerous effects to human health and ecosystems. People have adapted to the stable climate we have enjoyed since the last ice age which ended several thousand years ago. A warmer climate can bring changes that can affect our water supplies, agriculture, power and transportation systems, the natural environment, and even our own health and safety. There are some climate changes that are unavoidable and nothing can be done about it. For example, carbon dioxide can stay in the atmosphere for nearly a century, so Earth will continue to warm in the future. Global warming has really taken effect in the world over the last century. It is the unusually rapid increase in the Earths average surface temperature over the past century primarily due to the greenhouse gases released as people burn fossil fuels. Global warming is due to the enhancing greenhouse gases emission and build-up in the Earths environment. The gases that have an influence on the atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide, dinitrogen-oxide, and methane. Almost 30 percent of incoming sunlight is reflected back into space by bright surfaces like clouds and ice. In the other 70 percent, most is absorbed by the land and ocean, and the rest is absorbed by the atmosphere. The absorbed solar energy heats our planet. This absorption and radiation of heat by the atmosphere is beneficial for life on Earth. Today, the atmosphere contains more greenhouse gas molecules, so more of the infrared energy emitted by the surface ends up being absorbed by the atmosphere. By increasing the co ncentration of greenhouse gases, we are making Earths atmosphere a more efficient greenhouse. Climate has cooled and warmed throughout the Earth history for various reasons. Rapid warming like we see today is unusual in the history of our planet. Some of the factors that have an effect on climate, like volcanic eruptions and changes in the amount of solar energy, are natural. Climate can change if there is a change in the amount of solar energy that gets to the Earth. Volcano eruptions can really affect climate, because when it erupts it spews out more than just lava and ash. Volcanoes release tiny particles made of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere. These particles get into the stratosphere and reflect solar radiation back out to space. Snow and ice also have a great effect on climate. When snow and ice melts Earths climate warms, less energy is reflected and this causes even more warming. There are many different ways that plants, animals, and other life on our planet can affect climate. Some can produce greenhouse gases that trap heat and aid global warming through the greenhouse effect. Carbon dioxide is taken out of the atmosphere by plants as they make their food by photosynthesis. During the night, plants release some carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere. Methane is made while farm animals, such as cattle and sheep digest their food. Cars and trucks can effect climate by releasing carbon dioxide when fossil fuels are burned to power them. When wildfires occur, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. However, if a forest of similar size grows again, about the same amount of carbon that was added to the atmosphere during the fire will be removed. Some effects that scientists have predicted in the past would result when global change was occurring: loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise, and more intense heat waves. Scientists have confidence that global temperatures will continue to rise for decades to come, largely due to greenhouse gase s produced by human activities. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) stated that the extent climate change effects on individual regions will vary over time and with ability of different societal and environmental systems mitigate or adapt to change (The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). This has been the warmest decade since 1880. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, 2010 and 2005 has been the warmest years on record. The earth could warm by an additional 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit during the 21st century if we fail to reduce emissions from burning fossil fuels (The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). The rising of temperature will have great effects on the earths climate patterns and on all living things. Industrial activities that our modern civilization depends upon have raised atmospheric carbon dioxide from 280 parts per million to 379 parts per million in the last 150 years (The Intergovernmental Panel on Climat e Change). In conclusion, we need to take part and try to stop global warming and other effects on climate change. If the earths temperatures continue to rise in the future, living things on earth would become extinct due to the high temperatures. If humans contribute to control global warming, this world would be cooler and the high temperatures we currently have would decrease. If everybody as one take stand and try to end most of the climate changes that are occurring, this world would be a safer place to live on.

Japanese Internment Essay -- American History Japan Pearl Harbor Essay

Japanese Internment The decision to imprison Japanese Americans was a popular one in 1942. It was supported not only by the government, but it was also called for by the press and the people. In the wake of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941, Japan was the enemy. Many Americans believed that people of Japanese Ancestry were potential spies and saboteurs, intent on helping their mother country to win World War II. â€Å"The Japanese race is an enemy race,† General John DeWitt, head of the Western Defense Command wrote in February 1942. â€Å"And while many second and third generation Japanese born in the United States soil, possessed of United States citizenship, have become ‘Americanized,’ the racial strains are undiluted† (quoted in Smith, 1995: 83). On February 19, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Executive Order 9066. The Order declared that â€Å"the successful prosecution of the war requires every possible protection against espionage and against sabotage to national defense material, national defense premises, and national defense utilities.† In pursuit of this goal, the Secretary of War, or the military commander whom he might designate, was authorized â€Å"to prescribe military areas in such places and of such extent as he†¦may determine, from which any or all persons may be excluded, or leave shall be subject to whatever restrictions the Secretary†¦or the Military Commander may impose in his discretion.† The Secretary was also authorized â€Å"to provide for residents of any such areas who are excluded therefrom, such transportation, food, shelter, and other accommodations as may be necessary†¦until other arrangements are made, to accomplish the purpose of this order† ( see Appendix 1). Though the Order seems to be in violation of the Constitution at the time, the Supreme Court upheld it because of â€Å"military necessity.† â€Å"There was evidence of disloyalty on the part of some [Japanese Americans], the military authorities considered that the need for action was great, and time was short. We cannot – by availing ourselves of the calm perspective of hindsight – now say that at that time these actions were unjustified,† stated Justice Hugo Black on December 18, 1944 (quoted in Irons, 1989: 83). The War Department oversaw the removal of people of Japanese ancestry from the West Coast based upon wartime military necessity. Shortly ... ...t and control of alien enemies, except as such duty and responsibility is superseded by the designation of military areas hereunder. THE WHITE HOUSE, Franklin D. Hope Leslie, The Perfect Storm, and Dinosaur in a Haystack :: Persuasive Writing Essays

Hope Leslie, The Perfect Storm, and Dinosaur in a Haystack The three books, Hope Leslie, by Catharine Maria Sedgwick, The Perfect Storm, by Sebastian Junger, and Dinosaur in a Haystack, by Stephen Jay Gould, each persuade the reader to see a one sided story. The reader believes each author and allows himself to be persuaded for two reasons. One reason is he has confidence in the writer because he has not researched the 16th century, nor ever delved into the scientific world of evolution, nor investigated the perfect storm that sunk the Andrea Gail. Sedgwick did research the sixteenth century in order to write her novel about the puritans and Indians. Gould is an accredited scientist and has researched the scientific theory of evolution. Junger actually interviewed the family and friends of the real people that died on the Andrea Gail, and investigated the weather conditions to write his novel. On the other hand, The readers that do know about the 16th century, or evolution, or the storm can agree with or dispute the author or dispute him or her. In Hope Leslie, Sedgwick tells a fictional story about a puritan family's tragic separation caused by an Indian family during the historic colonization of the New World. She presents her story line from the puritan's point of view. Sedgwick has one of her puritan characters say, "I had rather meet a legion of Frenchmen than a company of these savages. They are a kind of beast we don’t comprehend-out of the range of God’s creatures-neither angel [or] man..."(42). The Indians are made out to be savages and evil beasts. The uninformed reader that reads Catherine Sedgwick's novel is convinced that this lie true and becomes angry towards the Indians. He is overcome by Sedgwick's persuasiveness and completely agrees with her that the Indians were savages and had no right to murder the Fletchers. In reality, both sides are equally cruel to each other. The Indians kill and separate the puritan Fletcher family only because members of their tribe and family had been killed and se parated from the rest of the tribe. An informed reader knows about the tragedies that both the Indians and puritans endured during this time. He can read Sedgwick's novel and agree with her, or dispute her. Obviously, she has researched the sixteenth century and knows both sides of the story. However, Sedgwick only tells the reader about both families' tragedies in such a way that it seems justified for the puritans to have killed the Indian family, but bloodthirsty for the Indians to have killed the

Journal Entries for the play, “Of the Fields, Lately” by David French. Essay

The play Of the Fields, Lately portrays an average working class family living in the cold, isolated area of Newfoundland. Written by David French, The Mercer Family struggles with themselves in their close-knit traditions and encounter difficulties in getting along with each other. The Mercer Family is not a picture-perfect family as the Brady Bunch. They have values and behaviour which predominantly affects their lifestyles. The relationship between Jacob and Ben is very bizarre considering that they are father and son. Their relationship is revealed to be bitter and dysfunctioning, as proven through the conversation between Ben and his mother, Mary (pg. 7). This implies that Ben does not wish to interact with his father in any way. He doesn’t even take notice of his father’s presence in the household. He is immediately insulted when Mary questions him regarding his father. Ben states to Mary that he does not wish to establish any type of new relationship with Jacob. Mary acts as a peacekeeper in order to establish a â€Å"sense of belonging† between the two but both Ben and Jacob simply avoid each other. The last line from this selection (pg.7) is the most effective part of the dialogue since it is interesting to notice that Ben suspects his mother wants him to leave the house, when she only wishes for him to acknowledge the presence of Jacob. Another piece of dialogue which defines the relationship between Ben and Jacob is when Ben is asked about his flight coming home (pgs 9-10). Both Ben and Jacob stare at each other painfully, waiting for the other person to respond. This reveals that this family is so dysfunctional that they cannot even speak to one another in a sincere manner for a few seconds. Usually, people are very emotional and especially excited to speak to a family member  after a distant period of time. People tend to resolve past disputes by apologizing for whatever barrier had caused them to not speak to each other. However, in this particular case, it certainly seems that the â€Å"brick wall† is simply a barrier too wide for them to resolve their differences. The â€Å"brick wall† illustrates the tension in the father-son relationship. The wall symbolizes the force that keeps the two from expressing themselves with each other. In addition, the third moment that sheds light on Ben and Jacob’s relationship takes place when Ben asks Jacob if he can stay at home for a short while (pgs 65-66) Once again, Jacob shows his stubbornness by unwilling to open up to Ben when he offers to move back in. Ben feels that deep down inside, Jacob wants him to stay at home, but Jacob shows his unreasonableness by stating that Ben can stay home on his mother’s share of the house. The significance of the title, Of the Fields, Lately relates and holds great significance to many aspects of David French’s play. It ties into the themes of isolation and faà §ade. The title sheds light on the major events that shape the relationships of the play. The characters in the play resemble the ideal characteristics of the Newfoundland land and cultural customs. Newfoundland is a distant province in the Eastern Coast of Canada, off the mainland. This resembles Ben being a distant place away from Jacob. The elements of stagecraft also play an important role in the play. The music establishes the mood of the scene. The lighting and set design also play a role in setting the atmosphere of the play. The room with the radio shows the audience how distant away Ben and Jacob’s relationship really is. The stagecraft also helps express things that simply wouldn’t surface. There is a lot of conflict stirred up on Of the Fields, Lately which raises the question as to who is to blame for the family’s situation. Jacob blames  Ben for not being there when he suffered a heart attack. Ben blames Jacob for beating him as a child and embarrassing him amongst his childhood. Mary feels distressed since her sister has recently passed away. Mary is stuck in the middle of things as she tries to act as a peacekeeper in the ongoing dispute between Ben and Jacob. I feel that if there is someone to blame for the family’s situation, it must be Ben. I feel that Ben is the character responsible for the pain experienced in the Mercer Family. Ben has to realize that as children, we make mistakes many times in our lives and our parents are there for us everyday to assist us whenever we’re in trouble. Perhaps even if it were Jacob’s fault, Ben has to realize to forgive and forget. Instead, he remains passive and becomes frightened by his father, rather than accepting his father for who he is. Ben has to learn that we all make mistakes as human beings. Despite this, Ben is still bitter as he doesn’t hold much back. He was not willing to listen to his father for any reason and now he will regret having the opportunity to clear things up when Jacob was still alive. The character who I feel is not responsible for the pain experienced in the family is Mary. This is certainly because she acts as a peacekeeper in trying to resolve the ongoing quarrel between Ben and Jacob. She is reminiscent of the good times where her life was less problematic. She wants him to come to terms and resolve their pity issues but they are both unwilling to do so, showing their stubbornness. Mary feels very awful since she not only has to cope with her sister’s death, but experience this quarrel that she feels must be prevented in order to resolve peace in the family. Also, she has to cope with Jacob’s heart condition. Perhaps his heart attack was a result of his drinking and smoking problem. Wiff is also getting on Mary’s nerves. Mary tries to discuss with both Ben and Jacob individually but it seems as if they are too distant away from each other and can never break the â€Å"brick wall† standing between them. The main interest in Of the Fields, Lately was the relationship between Ben and Jacob. They have a very dysfunctional relationship for a father and son. As the play progresses, their relationship grows further apart. The audience  becomes aware about the past and present situation as it is revealed. Ben and Jacob are in constant arguments and can only hope to obtain a beneficial relationship in the future. Despite neither Ben nor Jacob reaching a compromise with each other, the future of their relationship is foretold through Wiff’s stories of himself and Dot. Wiff is portrayed to be a sensitive, misunderstood man whose monologues foretell the audience that the relationship between Wiff and Dot was quite similar to Ben and Jacob’s relationship. It seems that Wiff and Dot undergo difficult times. They are portrayed to be very loving and intimate with each other in the beginning of the play. Perhaps Ben and Jacob were like this when Ben was young too. Dot sees Wiff as an ignorant, self absorbed person. Likewise, Ben sees Jacob in the same light. Despite this, Dot still deeply cared for Wiff. Ben does not care for his father, while it seems that deep down inside, Jacob actually cared for Ben. Jacob made his sacrifice for Ben by moving the family to Newfoundland in pursuit of finding better education. Ben ignored him and did not acknowledge nor take advantage of his father’s sacrifice. Jacob was a hardworking man who brought home the dough after a long day’s work. Towards the end, Jacob shows an interest in Ben’s personal life. This suggests that the â€Å"brick wall† is slowing being taken down; they are able to communicate in a compatible way. When Wiff refers to moments when he was having affairs with other women, I feel that this resembles the moments when Ben hated Jacob. Jacob was so proud of Ben at the baseball game, even though it didn’t seem this way. This can be related to the love that Dot shared with Wiff. Both of these relationships took an intense downfall after this given moment. When Jacob dies, Ben regrets having the opportunity to apologize and make up with his father. Likewise, when Dot dies, Wiff regrets neglecting her by engaging in affairs with other women. Overall, Ben’s relationship with Jacob strongly relates to Wiff’s relationship with Dot. It foreshadows that Ben would have made the decision to resolve the issue with his father before it became too late. Unfortunately, this did not occur. Jacob is the character who I relate most to in Of the Fields, Lately. Although, I am not exactly a stubborn, abusive, old bully who has no admiration for his family, I never conclude fights! I am the type of person that openly starts them to obtain reaction from the other person(s). I find myself also to be an aggressive person at times. I feel that my perspective must be heard and understood for someone. I dislike resolving conflicts from the past and tend to hang onto situations that appeal to me for a long period of time. I also feel that I should let things go and establish relationships with those from my distant past who I haven’t kept in touch with. Similarly, Jacob should have given Ben another chance for their relationship to be reconstructed. It is arguable to state whether or not Of the Fields, Lately is a very realistic play. Each person has their own views based upon how they interpret and analyze the play. The realism can be determined by the characters, the dialogue, situations, and the mood going through the air during each scene. I believe that this is a realistic piece of work because it includes many disturbed characters who have a very struggling life. For instance, Jacob is an old, strict father who always picks on Ben. He also acts rudely, especially to his family members. His family loves him and wishes that he stops working and rest due to his poor heart condition. The doctor also sees Jacob as a stubborn, old man who won’t listen to the doctor’s orders or what’s best for him. He doesn’t want to see Jacob get hurt so then Mary holds responsibility for the family. Jacob should respect their wishes and spend time with his family before he ends up dying, rather than trying to burn out in his own glory by working in his last few days. Ben is the son who feels that his father treats him unfairly. Wiff is an alcoholic who has marriage problems and who suffers from severe depression at times. Mary is trying to cope with the death of her sister and her husband who is in poor health and also trying to keep the family’s structure together. Sam, Jacob’s friend from the past brought about different aspects of Jacob’s early life that was not established earlier. He portrayed innocence and curious behaviour that Jacob likely occupied when he was younger. Also, Billy (Ben’s older brother) is angry with Ben and agreed with  Jacob’s way. Sarah portrays a different perspective as she tells her story by siding with Jacob, showing Ben to be ignorant and the source of the family’s problems. I agree totally with Sarah’s interpretation. Ike Squires is jealous and bitter towards Jacob. He is portrayed as a success man who is doing well for himself. Ike feels bitter about Jacob obtaining all the attention! It seems that many of the characters in French’s play do not get along. Although these problems do not take place in most families, it still seems possible. In our world, there is always a family member who has a kind of problem like the ones displayed in Of the Fields, Lately. There are often people who are alcoholics, siblings who are fighting, family members not speaking to each other due to some reason. The Mercers remind me of â€Å"The Simpsons† with their constant family disputes. I feel that the situations in Of the Fields, Lately seem unrealistic since most Canadian families do not have excessive problems like the Mercers taking place. Every family has their times of grief and there is no skepticism that there are families who possess a lot of stress on their backs, like the Mercers. Ben and Jacob need to come to terms; Mary needs to resolve her issues with Wiff and most importantly, everyone needs to â€Å"forgive and forget† in order to sustain a happy life! *NOTE: This is my collection of journals that I have compiled into this creative writing piece; it is not a formal essay and this is why I use personal pronouns such as â€Å"I†*

The Staff Development

This paper will review the characteristics of a teaching program for a critical care department in a local community hospital. This will include a review of teaching strategies that focus on the adult learner based on their development stage. A teaching program for the critical care department would entail small group and student-centered teaching strategies that focus on communication enhancement and core skill competency development among learners. This teaching approach emphasizes more autonomy in the clinical care setting and encourages the teacher to consider learner characteristics among clinical and professional workers. The educational program described will be offered in hospital and other generic health care organizations where proactive team building skills and communication skills development are necessary to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to learning and care giving. The teaching program provided will include a team approach to healthcare education encouraging participants to learn and adopt strategies for conversing and communicating with diverse populations including other professionals, students, clinical workers, patients, families and community members. Teaching Program for Critical Care Department Foundation Learner characteristics for employees in a critical care work setting are unique. Adult learners generally have specific characteristics that require use of effective strategies for learning and teaching the adult learner (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 2003). Studies suggest that multiple approaches may be more effective for helping critical care staff develop, including a â€Å"team healthcare approach† which educators can adopt and simulate in an educational setting â€Å"through interprofessional education and vertical integration of student years† (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, p. 5). Teaching strategies must be based on learner characteristics and the place of employment students intend to pursue their career to be successful. Teaching strategies that are varied are most likely to be successful, and may include information technology training in skills development and writing genres and education about working in a multidisciplinary health care setting where a depth and range of activities and problems solving skills are nurtured among future healthcare practitioners (Biggs, 1999; Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 2003). Teaching strategies must incorporate multiple aims including improving adult critical care workers perceptions and experiences of their education and learning environment and supporting learners at varying developmental levels (Curzon, 2000). Among the skills necessary include improving communication skills in a patient centered manner; this may require that educators focus on assessing the student practitioner and providing information based learning in small groups that emphasizes problem based and problem solving learning (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 2003). Many support teaching strategies that incorporate good communication, skills and core competency training and specialist options that are student based and emphasize group study skills to support ongoing learning at each development stage among adult learners; further research suggest that the ability of adult learners to discover information and understand subject matter in a clinical setting depends in part on their ability to uncover information about subjects important to them and their professional careers (Huttly, et al. 2003; Wilby, 2001). It is important that teachers adopt strategies that allow them to act as â€Å"agents of change† in the classroom, drawing on their own educational experience to provide students with a learning environment that is â€Å"condensed but focused† (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 150). The clinic provides an adequate learning environment for all medical students, and teaching strategies in this environment should focus on providing students with skills, knowledge, expertise and professional ability to treat patients correctly and efficiently (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 2003). Teaching strategies that tend to work well in a clinical environment reflect learner characteristics, are generally subject-centered, consider student's pre-clinical ability and education and enable students to tackle â€Å"problem-oriented, practical experiences† geared toward their developmental level (Townsend, et al. 1997; Huttly et al. 2003). Small group learning is also considered â€Å"the most meaningful learning experienced by adult learners† and useful for all curricula including medical, particularly when characterized by â€Å"active participation of all group members† (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 101). Further small group experiences can enhance learning by involving them in various processes including â€Å"relating, applying, generating ideas and recognizing and resolving problems† (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 101). It is a more active than passive form of teaching that provides students with more stimulating methods of interaction and developing, enabling better responsibility for learning among students, helping develop generic clinical skills and promoting all adult learning characteristics and styles (Biggs, 1999; Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 2003). Particularly in clinical education student centered modes of teaching including small group work allow students to adopt more active and autonomous roles better preparing them to function as team members in their medical communities at later dates and times (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 2003). There is ample evidence supporting the role of active learning in the clinical environment. There is also ample evidence suggesting that student centered approaches to teaching help clinical student learn to communicate better in a team environment and help develop more comprehensive communication and problem solving skills, important attributes within the medical profession (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 2003). This compared with more teacher centered approaches, strategies that in the past have proven less successful among adult learners with varying learning characteristics, particularly those learning in a clinical environment where it is important that students adopt transferable and generic skills (Huttly, Sweet & Taylor, 2003).

Cardiovascular Respiratory System During Exercise Physical Education Essay

Cardiovascular Respiratory System During Exercise Physical Education Essay A good understanding of anatomy and physiology is the basis of all medicine. Without knowing how the body works, how it is made up and how it can go wrong, we cannot even begin to design effective treatments and interventions, including surgery or new pharmaceutical drugs. The body has many different systems which help to maintain the body’s normal function. Three of these functions are; the cardiovascular system, respiratory system and the musculoskeletal system. In this assignment I will be looking at how these three systems work both at resting and during exercise. Cardiovascular System Wilmore, J.H; Costill, D.L (2004) states that the cardiovascular system consists of; the heart, which acts as a pump, blood vessels acting as a system of channels and it also consists of blood which acts as a fluid medium. The cardiovascular system has three main functions: Transports oxygen and nutrients to the body’s cells and transports carbon dioxide and waste products from the b ody’s cells. Protects the body from infection and loss of blood. Helps to regulate pH balance of the body, body temperature and the balance of fluid. (Plowman, A. S; Smith, D.L; 2010). Below is a diagram which shows the circulation of the cardiovascular system. http://agingresearch.buffalo.edu/assets/images/chf_circulatory_system.jpg (Image from http://agingresearch.buffalo.edu/†¦/chf_circulatory_system.jpg) As the diagram above shows the heart pumps oxidized blood to the body so the nutrients can be distributed to the cells and remove the waste which is then returned to the heart and then into the lungs to be oxidized again to return to the body. Response to Exercise Exercise uses up a lot of energy, which the cells derive from oxidizing glucose. Both glucose and oxygen have to be delivered by the blood. This means that the heart has to work harder to pump more blood through the body. This means it has to beat faster in order to achieve a higher throughput. The cardiova scular system responds to exercise by increasing the activity level. The adrenal gland increases the production of the hormones adrenaline and nor adrenaline. These have direct effects on the heart. These hormones cause an increase in the heart rate and the force with which the heart contracts each beat. This increases the total amount of blood that is circulated in the body every minute. That increase in blood circulation is required to meet the increased demand for nutrients and oxygen that the muscles and other tissues. There are several types of exercise and they all affect the cardiovascular system in a similar way, an example of some of these are; short term light to sub maximal aerobic, long term moderate to heavy sub maximal aerobic, incremental aerobic, static exercise and resistance exercise. For the purpose of this essay I will be looking at and comparing; short term to sub maximal aerobic exercise and heavy sub maximal aerobic exercise and how they affect the cardiovascu lar system. img010img011 This image shows the graphs of the changes in the cardiovascular system during light exercise (left) and moderate to heavy exercise (right).
